Touch Rugby Rules:

Goal of the game:

The goal of the game is to score points by touching the ball down in the try zone. Each try so scored is worth 5 points for the scoring team.

Game play:

The ball can only be moved forward when held by a player who is moving forward.

When a player who is moving forward with the ball is tagged (with two hands) by a defensive player, they must stop and set the ball down for another member of their team to pick up. This teammate may run and/or pass the ball.

Passes must travel backwards. Forward passes will result in a turnover to the defending team.

If the offensive team is tagged (with two hands) 5 times before scoring a try, they must turn the ball over to the defensive team.

Kicking only occurs at the beginning of the game, after halftime, and as a restart after a try has been awarded. These kicks must be drop kicks.

Turnovers (result in offensive team turning the ball over to the defensive tea at the point of infraction):

5 tags (with 2 hands) from the defensive team

 Forward passes

Knock-ons (when the ball is knocked forward off a player onto the ground)

Obstruction (when a member of the offensive team gets between the ball carrier and the defending team, obstructing potential defense)

Penalties (result in the defending team retreating 10 meters from the point of infraction):

Offsides (when a member of the defending team is closer than 5 meters to the offensive team after a tag has occurred)

High touches (if a defensive player makes a tag on an offensive player above the offensive players shoulders)

Other penalties are to be awarded at the discretion of the referee
