I wasn't implying that I wanted to charge people to drink my beer. My homebrew is free for those who want it. Unless we're talking a charity donation for it. I was talking about if we need an additional commerical keg. I have about 25 gallons of mine, which may go quick. I don't want to run out of beer! If people bring an interesting brew that would obviously mean more, but as the night wears on..... Something to think about. Of course, there is a conveniece store a block from my place. We could urge people to bring interesting beers, pair it with some food, then I will find some food that goes with my homebrews, and maybe a comerical keg of beer if that's what people want. I don't think it has to be German, I mean people can bring Belgian beer or an Impeial IPA, just no ordinairy beer, be creative. I have three steins if anyone wants to borrow one. Also glassware for any beer style. If people want, I can talk(before I've had too much) about beer styles and food that might be good with them etc......

Yeah...when I lived there, I cooked at home...the food is, um, interesting. But they have some good stuff...like Bratwurst, the pretzels, spatzle? I'll have to find my big stein and pick up someold school Bavarian beer for this! I'm in on $5 for the keg too Andy ;)

It sounds like we are good to go! Thank you Andy and I will post the event. I would pay $5 to partake in sampling of Andy's home brew. I will let people know all the items we have come up with. Pairing the beer with food reminds me of the themed cookouts that seemed to be a popular idea last year but were never really attempted. Shall I propose a German theme for the first Super Cookout!? Ladies and gents get your lederhosen ready! Thoughts?

Kam, as far as the beer, that might be something to think about. We could encourage people to bring new exotic or interesting beers so that everyone can try them and people could have something cool to talk about and maybe pair some food with them. Yes, I'm using it as an excuse to try as much new beer as I can. If I can find something I like I wouldn't mind a keg, less mess with cans and bottles too. A beer/charity event would be cool. A charity event is a great idea! What did you guys have in mind? An auction is also s good idea. Who would organize that and how would it be done? A good arrival time would be about 5. People can stay as long as they want provided the're not too loud and the cops don't come. Noise just can't bother my neighbors. As far as games, as long as it doesn't damage my place or humiliate or hurt anyone I don't care what games people want to play.......within reason of course. Any grill food and other cookout food is all good. Is there anything else we are forgetting?

Wow Kam, are you bored at work or just on a caffine high? Maybe I just read that message too fast!! Anyways, I just sent Andy a message to make sure he has thought out hosting this event thuroughly, including noise, parking, and space concerns. The logistics for the early season cookouts are especially difficult due to the cold weather and everyone being inside. Let's make sure he is able to and feels comfortable accomodating 40-50 people. We should include the giving portion of portsports to the super cookout club this year and since we have some time to plan this first event, we could have the silent auction or raffle with people either bringing items from home, providing services, or reaching out to community businesses for donations. Thoughts?

Andy is there a specific amount you'd like people to bring to buy a cup? Like $5? Also, we'd discussed in the past people donating to a charity at these events. I know I did a food drive at my holiday party, want to do one again? Any other ideas? What time would you like people to arrive? They've usually been around 3 in the past and people have arrived closer to the 4/5 hour in a pack, but it is nice to have a spread of time. If you want people to leave by a specific time, have any noise/general rules, games you do/don't want people to bring, types of food (you have a grill??)...lay it out here and then the event can be posted ;-)
